3 Steps to Effective Decision Making That Will Change Your Life Forever

“This is a guide on how to make better decisions. This is a quick read and by the end of it you will be more effective at making decisions in your life.”

Hey!!!!! Do you want to make a decision that will change your life, but you’re not sure if the decision you want to make is a good one?

If so, don’t worry because I’ll show you 3 great steps to effective decision-making, and if not, you can still read to the end. Who knows if this article will be useful to you in the future.

Before I tell you about the 3 steps, I’d like to share a personal story about how these steps have aided me in making important decisions and shaped and changed my life for the better.

If you want to be successful in life, you must be able to make effective decisions. It doesn’t matter where you want to be in life – whether it is in your career, with your family, or with your friends. Decision-making is a critical skill.

It’s difficult to make decisions, especially when you’re in a cycle of making important decisions that will change your life and career. There was a time when I had to make a firm decision about whether or not to delete this blog. Though some decisions may appear to others as a joke, to you, they will be a matter of life and death—that is how the decision to delete this blog is to me.

This blog was created from the wrong point of view when I first started it. People like Jay Shetty, Rob Dial, Dhar Mann, Kate Spencer, Brendon Burchard, and many more authors who are changing the world and lives of others inspired me to start this blog. But my writing was nothing to write home about at the time.

I spent money on this blog that I should not have spent if I had followed the correct path or made the right decision. And the guy who helps me with this knows nothing about it, but I’d have to figure it out on my own. I compared my blog’s success to others, and it was in really bad shape, well I can say it’s still in bad shape, and I was so disappointed in my blog and myself because I wanted to create something great, different, and inspiring for people like me.

Do you realize that after deleting, recovering, and deleting this blog, it will also be two years old and more sooner?  A blog I can’t bear the thought of deleting because it left me feeling stranded. I didn’t have much choice but to recover and continue on my journey.

The decision I made to delete this blog was incorrect, as I later discovered, and the decision that led me to keep this blog at the time is still the same decision that leads me to continue publishing content on this blog…..

Common mistakes while making a life changing decision.

Decision making is a process of making choices with good reasons. Sometimes, however, it can be challenging. To avoid common mistakes, you need to know what they are. These are mistakes that sometimes me and you make—The ability to make decisions well is an important skill for everyone. Unfortunately, it is often underdeveloped.

So, what are these errors that we make when making decisions? And how can we avoid them?

Believing that certain things are destined to be.

Did you know that about 70% of the things that we do in life are based on our beliefs?

I’ve been thinking about destiny. Have you ever found yourself asking, ‘Is this my destiny? Should I let this be my destiny?

There are times when making decisions for a better life appears to be a mistake. I sometimes believe that these things are predestined, but I’m mistaken. These things I thought were predestined can be altered by the decision I make at that time. And I know you make these mistakes from time to time, leaving something to bother you when you can simply change the way you think and act, as well as your decisions on such things.

Look at how to change some of your long held beliefs and reframe them in a positive way.

Allowing Others to Make Decisions on Your Behalf.

Overcoming the fear of allowing others to make decisions on your behalf is a big obstacle to success.

Sometimes the decisions made for us by others are the best, and sometimes they aren’t. Some decisions should be made by you alone, not by a group of random people. You are the only one who can decide what you want and don’t want. However, when making a life-changing decision, you must think it through thoroughly before jumping to a conclusion.

So allowing others to make life-changing decisions for you is not worth it, because, at the end of the day, you will be alone in whatever decisions they have chosen for you— However, if you must choose between two decisions that are best for you, you can involve others.

Not Holding True

I’m sure there are some decisions you’ve made in your life that, if you’re asked about them, you’ll deny to the core that you weren’t the one who made them—Making decisions is a big part of being a human being. It is how we lead our lives. But there are many times when our decisions do not work out the way we expected.

Most of us, including myself as I type this, are dying because we are not staying true to ourselves. I’m not going to lie to you; there are some decisions I can’t stick by. Take, for example, my blog. I decided to close my blog, but I can’t because I can’t stick to my decision—because it wasn’t made from the bottom of my heart. I need to go back and publish my blog so that I can continue on my journey. These are the mistakes I’m sure we’re all making: making a decision we can’t live with.

If you’ve ever made a decision and then changed your mind, you know how frustrating it is. But if you’ve ever changed your mind and then changed it back again, you know how confusing it can be as well.

You need to stick to your decisions in order to change. The sad truth is that you can’t change if you don’t stick to what you need to do.

Making Excuses

When faced with a life-altering decision, excuses may come in handy. Why do you have to make excuses whenever you need to make a decision that will improve your life?

For example, a student who realizes he is falling behind in his grades and knows he can do better in such a course but uses the excuse that the course is so difficult that no one in the university’s history has ever gotten a better grade in such a course, which is a lie.

Getting a better grade can begin with a student’s decision. Whenever you have to make a life-changing decision, you must stop running the risk of making excuses.

Basic steps to effective decisions making.

I’ve given a better example of myself and some mistakes that most of us make when making important decisions.

A decision-making process has many steps and it is often difficult to choose which step to do next. However, this article, I will show you the 3 basic steps to making the best decision that will change your life for the better, among these steps include;

Critical Thinking.

Critical thinking is a skill that will help you make better decisions in your life. It will help you become more rational, and more likely to come to the right conclusions.

You must learn to think critically to make the right decisions that will improve your way of life. Though some decisions do not necessitate critical thinking, there are some that you can simply sit down and decide.

Making a better decision that will change your life requires you to think deeply and critically. You must consider how the decision will be of great benefit to you, consider the precautions of the decision you are about to make, consider the outcomes of the decisions you are about to make, and all of this requires you to think deeply and critically.

Thinking critically makes you a better decision maker.

Declare Your Goals.

What goals do you want to achieve at the end of the day when making a decision?

When you have to make a decision, it is better to declare your goals to achieve. It is everyone’s goals to achieve, not just your own. When you declare your goals, it will be easier to make the best decision to achieve those goals.

As a student, I’ve decided to study more diligently to be the best student possible. These are the goals that will keep you going—if you don’t define your goals, it will be difficult to stick to your decision. So writing down your goals is a good place to start to stay on track without being distracted or tempted to deviate from your decisions.

You need to set goals when making a decision. By declaring your goals, you are able to make a better decision.

Seek For Advice.

You might be surprised to learn that I decided to seek for advice before making a life-altering decision. This is because some decisions should not be made on one’s own. Some decisions require the approval of others, even if they will not be the ones to decide for you.

For example, a friend of mine is having difficulty deciding whether to make love with her new boyfriend or not, and the most important aspect is that they just met, and the guy has been pressuring her. They are likely to separate if she does not make love with him, and she also loves him because she is afraid of losing him.

In this situation, seeking advice is not something to be ashamed of. So, whenever you are unsure about a decision, learn to seek advice and to hear the opinions of others on the decision you are about to make.

I hope this article has provided you with valuable insight into effective decision-making that will change your life forever. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section below.
